The C4B (Circular Bio-Based Business Models) Project, funded under Horizon Europe, has launched its 2026 Open Call to support the implementation of fair, sustainable, and circular bio-based business models across Europe. Selected projects may receive up to €60,000 in funding per project

The C4B project aims to strengthen the role of primary producers in the bioeconomy and foster sustainable economic development in rural areas. Through this Open Call, the project seeks to support initiatives that test innovative business models, integrate sustainability and circularity principles, and demonstrate their scalability in real-world regional contexts.

  • Project Duration: Up to 12 months

Who Can Apply?

The call is open to:

  • Groups of farmers, foresters, and primary producers
  • Biorefinery SMEs
  • Agricultural and forestry industry actors
  • Bio-based industry stakeholders
  • Sector organisations
  • Multi-actor partnerships 

Applications may be submitted by a single legal entity or by consortia of up to three legal entities, provided all eligibility requirements are met.

  • The Open Call will support projects that:
  • Test and validate innovative business models
  • Promote fair and sustainable value chains
  • Integrate circular economy principles
  • Demonstrate scalability in regional context
