Call for Applications: Synthetic Biotechnology Training Program by COMSATS and TIB

Applications are now open for the 5th International Training Course on Industrial Synthetic Biotechnology (ITC-ISB), which is scheduled to be held from 10 to 24 October 2025 in Tianjin, China. The course is being jointly organized by the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) and the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB), a Centre of Excellence of COMSATS. The program is financially supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People’s Republic of China, as well as the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO). The training course will provide participants with a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of synthetic biotechnology. Key topics include basic theories, methodologies, recent technological advancements, and diverse applications in areas such as healthcare, chemicals, fuels, food, feed additives, and materials. Participants will also be engaged in hands-on laboratory experiments and will have the opportunity to visit state-of-the-art TIB research facilities and leading biotechnology companies. Additionally, participants will be invited to attend the CO₂ Fixation and Bioconversion International Symposium 2025, to be held on 13–14 October 2025 at TIB. A total of 20 international participants will be selected for this fully funded training program. The selected candidates will be provided with round-trip economy-class airfare, local accommodation, meals, local transportation, and tuition fee coverage. Interested applicants are required to submit the application form, along with a personal introduction template and any supporting documents, to CCIB@tib.cas.cn by 31 July 2025.
