The Clean Hydrogen Partnership will organise an online workshop entitled “Strengthening Europe’s Competitiveness Through Sustainable Water Use” on 10 July 2026. The event will focus on the role of sustainable water use in enhancing Europe’s competitiveness.
As highlighted in the context of the European Green Deal and the EU Hydrogen Strategy, the large-scale deployment of renewable hydrogen must go hand in hand with sustainable water management practices. As a key actor in the development of Europe’s clean hydrogen ecosystem, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership aims to strengthen Europe’s global leadership in hydrogen by accelerating the transition of research and innovation results towards market uptake.
During the event, the key findings and policy recommendations of the study “Sustainability of Water Use and Management in Renewable Hydrogen Production”, commissioned by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and carried out by RINA Consulting in collaboration with Aragon Hydrogen Foundation and SoftWater, will be presented.
Participants will gain insights into:
- Water requirements across renewable hydrogen production pathways;
- Challenges and opportunities related to sustainable water use;
- Recommendations for efficient and responsible water management;
- Water-smart hydrogen deployment solutions, including strategic plant siting, desalination integration, and circular water management approaches.
The webinar will also explore how policymakers, industry representatives, and researchers can work together to ensure a sustainable, resilient, and competitive hydrogen economy.
