The Deep Tech Talent Initiative by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) will train one million researcher in deep tech skills and entrepreneurship by 2025. To do so, the EIT will rally its network and new partners to develop trainings and courses in cutting edge fields that will be at the forefront of future industries. The long-term goal is to increase the amount of European innovation being created to fight climate change, create new agri-food systems, build more liveable cities, and more.
In its first year, the Deep Tech Talent Initiative has already developed its courses’ catalogue, pledger community and Initiative offerings. Carrying this momentum and in an effort to expand the Initiative community, courses offering, and drive towards one million learners trained by the end of 2025, the EIT’s Deep Tech Talent Initiative is launching its first Prize, Deep Tech Talent Training Prize.
The Deep Tech Talent Training Prize rewards excellence in addressing Deep Tech training challenges. Awards are given to applicants who demonstrate excellence in addressing a challenge in a Deep Tech Talent Initiative area group in one of the two prize categories: Partner Training and Targeted Training around the Deep Tech Talent Initiative area groups.
Prize Categories:
- Partner Training: Partnerships are an essential cornerstone of the Deep Tech Talent Initiative and developing and fostering deep tech talents and technologies in Europe. Such partnerships come in many forms, including collaborations between training providers and employers, regional actors coming together to address regional innovation ecosystem needs, or even ecosystem actors coming together for a specific market or societal need.
- Targeted Training: This category is for individual training providers who have demonstrated excellence in a specific targeted approach to address challenges in Deep Tech training. The targeted approach may address target audiences that are often underrepresented in Deep Tech fields (e.g., women, people with disadvantaged backgrounds, individuals re-entering the job market, etc.) or may address an immediate market or training need that is underdeveloped.
Prizes
The total maximum the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) funding allocated to this Prize is up to 1.000.000 EUR with a maximum prize allocated per entity of up to 60.000 EUR. Prizes will be evaluated based on the Deep Tech Talent Initiative area group topic organized under the two prize categories (Partner Training, Targeted Training). Up to one first place prize and one runner up prize will be awarded per Deep Tech Talent Initiative area group per prize category.
The Prize is open to all organisations who meet the criteria of the Initiative and have completed the pledge and quality check process by 22 September 2023.
