The ERC 2026 Advanced Grant call is now open for applications. Researchers may submit their proposals until 27 August 2026.
The Advanced Grant scheme supports experienced researchers who have established themselves as independent research leaders and have a recognised track record of significant research achievements. The call is designed to fund ambitious frontier research projects that push the boundaries of knowledge and offer high-risk, high-gain potential.
Funding Opportunities
Successful applicants may receive up to €2.5 million for a period of five years.
An additional €1 million may be requested to cover major costs such as the purchase of large-scale equipment, access to major facilities, or extensive fieldwork.
Furthermore, researchers currently based in third countries (such as the United States, Canada, or Japan) who plan to relocate to an EU Member State or an Associated Country (including Türkiye) to carry out their ERC project may request up to €2 million in additional funding for start-up activities, including laboratory establishment and team building. For example, a researcher moving from the United States to Türkiye could request a total budget of up to €4.5 million.
The call therefore represents a significant funding opportunity both for researchers already based in Türkiye and for those considering relocating their research activities to Türkiye.
Call Budget
A total budget of €747 million has been allocated to the ERC 2026 Advanced Grant call. With this budget, the ERC expects to fund approximately 294 projects across all scientific disciplines.
