Within the scope of the Türkiye in Horizon Europe Technical Assistance Project, the Horizon Europe General Information Training was successfully held on 29 January 2026 at Kayseri Erciyes Technopark, attracting strong interest from regional stakeholders. The one-day programme brought together over 60 participants in person and aimed to strengthen the capacity of institutions and organizations in the region to engage more effectively with the Horizon Europe Programme.

The opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Serhat Dalkılıç, General Manager of Erciyes Technopark, on behalf of the host institution, and Mr. Tarık Şahin, TÜBİTAK National Contact Point for EIC/EIE/EIT. Mr. Dalkılıç welcomed participants and expressed his satisfaction in hosting the event at Erciyes Technopark, highlighting the momentum gained in recent years, its strengthened position within the entrepreneurship, R&D and innovation ecosystem, and the increasing strategic importance attached to the Horizon Europe Programme. Mr. Şahin provided an overview of the general structure of Horizon Europe, its main components and thematic framework, emphasizing the programme’s role in fostering sustainable inter-institutional collaboration. He also underlined the critical importance of strategic preparation and planning to enable stakeholders in Türkiye to develop competitive project proposals.

The training was delivered by Dr. Nikolaos Floratos, Senior Training Expert of the Türkiye in Horizon Europe Project. During the morning session, key steps in proposal development were addressed, including reading work programmes and calls effectively, identifying suitable calls, consortium building, and role allocation. Particular focus was placed on how to interpret the sections Scope, Expected Outcomes, and Expected Impact in call texts, and practical guidance was shared on the approach participants should follow throughout the proposal preparation process.

In the afternoon session, the programme covered core elements of technical project management under Horizon Europe in a comprehensive framework, including work package design, outputs and deliverables, monitoring and reporting, risk management, and maintaining compliance during implementation. Throughout the presentations, the logic of Horizon Europe, the structure of calls, and key considerations across the project life cycle were conveyed through examples and interactive discussions.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, where participants’ questions were addressed. With its strong attendance and interactive format, the Horizon Europe General Information Training made a significant contribution to strengthening the ability of stakeholders in Kayseri and the surrounding region to develop high-quality and competitive project proposals under the Horizon Europe Programme.
