The European Commission is expanding the Horizon Europe Horizontal Activities Work Programme 2026–2027. Alongside the previously announced CID (Clean Industrial Deal R&I) and RAISE (AI in Science), two new focus areas are introduced:
🔹 NATURE — Transformative Change Towards a Nature-Positive Economy and Society Accelerating biodiversity protection and ecosystem restoration through research, innovation, stakeholder engagement and advanced technologies. 4 calls · 11 topics · ≈ €229.45 million.
🔹 BRIDGING — Bridging Actions Bridging the gap between research results and market deployment, preparing innovations for investment, scale-up and real-world uptake, and ensuring a smooth transition between Horizon Europe (2021–2027) and the next Framework Programme (FP10). 5 calls · 12 topics · ≈ €193.00 million.
💡 Why it matters? Horizontal Activities are a new addition to Horizon Europe. Unlike cluster-specific calls, they take a cross-cutting approach, bringing together expertise, resources and stakeholders across domains. The two new areas total ≈ €422.45 million; the full programme ≈ €1.11 billion.
