  30 May 2025

Dear Researchers; Representatives from Academia, Industry, and Civil Society Organizations,

The 2025 Call for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Networks (DN) under the Horizon Europe Programme was officially launched on 28 May 2025, and the European Commission will accept project proposals until 25 November 2025.

Through the 2025 MSCA Doctoral Networks Call, the aim is to train researchers who have not yet obtained a doctoral degree (doctoral candidates) through innovative research projects. There is no thematic restriction, and proposals can be submitted on any research topic (bottom-up approach). These training activities are expected to be designed by consortia composed of at least three different institutions from three different countries, including both academic and non-academic sectors (e.g., industry, SMEs, NGOs, etc.).

This call offers experienced researchers the opportunity to host and train doctoral candidates, secure funding via the European Commission, and collaborate with them on research projects. Project proposals can be submitted under one of the following three modalities: Standard Doctoral Networks, Industrial Doctorates, or Joint Doctorates.

Regardless of nationality (Turkish or international), doctoral candidates recruited by funded DN projects must come from abroad. This means that they must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the host country for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to recruitment. Therefore, candidates to be recruited by Turkish institutions under DN projects must come from outside Türkiye.

If a DN proposal is funded by the European Commission, the salaries of the recruited researchers, training and research costs, and expenses for joint activities among the consortium partners will be covered by the European Commission.

You can access up-to-date documents and information through the links provided.

We recommend reviewing the “How to Prepare Your Project in 6 Steps” guide before starting your application.

Applications must be submitted via the European Commission’s "Funding and Tenders Portal". For comprehensive guidance on the application process, we advise consulting the MSCA - DN web page on our site.

Researchers who plan to coordinate a DN proposal are especially encouraged to apply for TÜBİTAK's Coordinator Support Programme.

Researchers who do not wish to act as coordinators but still want to participate can search for partnership opportunities on the “Partner Search” section of the Funding and Tenders Portal or reach out to project teams via the MSCA Matchmaking Platform.

Lastly, please note that the European Commission will organize an MSCA Information Day on 24 June 2025. Registration is required to attend this event, and you may register via the link provided.

NOTE: In response to a frequently asked question: Doctoral candidates are not expected to write a DN proposal themselves, but if they wish to participate in a funded DN project, they can apply for available positions. All recruitment announcements for funded Doctoral Networks are published on the EURAXESS Portal. Doctoral candidates can search for suitable DN projects and open research positions in their field through this portal and apply individually to take part in these projects.
