Reference: 2024-1-TCB-ELSA-HOPLAB
Location: Ispra, (Italy)
Deadline date: 14 May 2024, 23:59 (CEST)
The Hopkinson Bar facility (HopLab) is used for the study of materials and of structural components to very fast dynamic loads, such as those due to blasts and impacts, where knowledge of the material behaviour under high strain rates is necessary.
The Hopkinson Bar facility offers a program that covers together the following Training and Capacity Building topics:
Introduction to strain-rate sensitivity and testing equipment, Hopkinson bar facilities, Hopkinson bar typical structure design, and Hopkinson experiments
Introduction and hands-on training on instrumentation, sensors, and simplified and advanced data elaboration
Hands-on training / demonstration of compression and tension tests using the ELSA HopLab facility
The duration of the training program is 4 days. The training will be held in 21-25 October 2024 or 18-22 November 2024. You can get more information here.
The JRC may provide a financial or in-kind contribution to support Users to cover their costs of travel and subsistence (T&S) related to the User Stay Days, subject to the availability of funds, personnel and other resources to Users from User Institutions located in a country eligible for the Widening Participation and Spreading Excellence actions under the Horizon Europe Programme.
Contact the research infrastructure at JRC-OPEN-ELSA@ec.europa.eu to assess feasibility aspects in case you request a topic different from the list of Training and Capacity Building topics for the ELSA Reaction Wall. The proposal should be submitted to JRC-RI-TRAINING-CB@ec.europa.eu by 14th May 2024.
