The 2026 calls for the PRIMA Program (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area), which will support multilateral projects on water management, food systems, and agri-food value chain themes in the Mediterranean region, are open for applications.

Projects to be supported within the scope of PRIMA Program are divided into 2 Sections.

  • Project proposals submitted under Section 1 will be supported by PRIMA-allocated funding from the Horizon Europe Programme. Section 1 - 2026 Call Topics:

Topic 1.1.1-2026 (IA):  Decentralised Brackish Water Desalination for Climate-Resilient and Resource-Efficient Mediterranean Agriculture.

Topic 1.2.1-2026 (IA): Next Generation of Sustainable and Alternative Animal Feeds for Circular and Resilient Mediterranean Farming Systems.

Topic 1.3.1-2026 (IA): Sustainable On-Site Transformation of Perishable Mediterranean Agri-food Products.

Nexus Theme

Topic 1.4.1-2026 (CSA): Institutionalising and Scaling the Mediterranean WEFE Nexus Community of Practice for Cross-Sectoral Governance and Policy Uptake

  • Project proposals submitted within the scope of Section 2, will be supported by the funds that the national funding agencies have committed to PRIMA, without the contribution of the EU. In the framework of the Section 2, in addition to the joint application to the PRIMA Program, research teams in project consortia are required to apply to their national funding agencies. For detailed information and international rules: https://prima-med.org/what-we-do/sections/section-2/ Research teams that will take part in the consortiums from Turkey will make their national applications to TÜBİTAK via online application portal: https://uidb-pbs.tubitak.gov.tr/. Project proposals to be submitted from Türkiye within the scope of the PRIMA Program will be supported within the scope of 1071 Program.  Since the application is returned without being evaluated in case of non-compliance with the application rules, the national application rules should be examined in detail before the application.
