“The Project Writing Camp on European Research Council(ERC)” event was held on 5-6 July 2023 in İstanbul organized by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) under the “Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase II” Technical Assistance Project which is co-financed by the EU and the Republic of Türkiye and implemented by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology within the scope of Competitive Sectors Programme.
The event was held with the participation of more than 30 attendees. The first day of the event began with the opening speeches of TÜBİTAK National Contact Points Ms. Aslı Vural and Dr. Derya Dönertaş. The overview of ERC grants was covered in the first session. In this session, Dr. Stefan Grünert, from biolution made a presentation on the “Overview of the European Research Council Grants”, “What is Scientific Excellence”, “Success factors, Evaluation criteria” and. “Ambition, High Risk/High Gain”. After the coffee break, Dr. Grünert delivered a speech titled “Have you got what it takes?”. A lunch break was given right after that speech. Following the lunch break, the last session of the event was held. Dr. Grünert made a presentation regarding the writing process, recruiting help, and quality checks in this session.
The second day of the event began with the speech of TÜBİTAK National Contact Point Ms. Aslı Vural covered the novalties in ERC grant and summary of the first day. Dr. Grünert took the floor and made a presentation on the project’s scale, budget, and scope. After the coffee break, Dr. Grünert took the floor again and shed light on the key elements of the project design within two different sessions. The event came to an end with closing speeches of the Training Coordinator Mr. Nikolaos Floratos and Team Leader Mr. Odysseas Spyroglou. Mr. Floratos and Mr. Spyroglou invited attendees to the online sessions as well.
