The 7th edition of the European Commission's flagship research and innovation event, European Research and Innovation Days, will take place on 10–11 November 2026 in Brussels and online. Registrations for the event are now open.
The event brings together policymakers, researchers, innovators, business leaders and representatives of civil society to debate how research and innovation can strengthen Europe's competitiveness, resilience and technological sovereignty.
Key themes to be explored during this year's edition include:
• Safeguarding freedom of scientific research
• Attracting, retaining and supporting research talent
• Increasing investment in research and development
• Turning research excellence into technological leadership
• Helping innovative companies start and scale up
• Strengthening research and technology infrastructures
• Deepening open and secure international cooperation
• Better engaging citizens with science
• Aligning European and national research policies and investments
The event will be opened by Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation. The detailed programme and speaker line-up will be announced soon.
Across two days, participants will be able to join high-level policy discussions, interactive breakout sessions, networking opportunities, award ceremonies and dedicated exchanges with EU Science Counsellors from around the world.
The event will be held in person at The EGG, Brussels, with free online live streaming also available. Participation is free of charge; registration is required only for in-person attendance.
