The Union for the Mediterranean is co-organising with CIHEAM Zaragoza a workshop on integrating green skills into teaching and learning in educational sectors connected to agri-food. The workshop will be hosted by CIHEAM Zaragoza on 1-2 February 2024 and will focus on green skills in the Mediterranean: “Education and research for sustainable food systems”, in support of food security.
The objective of the workshop is to inspire participants to be aware and proactively drive the integration of green skills into academic curricula or similarly integrate them in their activities, while also actively contributing to the advancement of sustainable food systems, food security, and regional dialogue on the "Just Transition".
The workshop looks at green skills integration, policy discourse, and stakeholder collaboration through the lens of the “Triple Helix” framework, examining the roles of academia, industry, and governments. Participants develop their own case in groups and a systematic strategy for integrating green skills into their own organisations.
This training is the first of two thematic workshops that the UfM is promoting in cooperation with the European Training Foundation, with the support of the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, and the technical assistance of Paeradigms.
The Union for the Mediterranean is willing to sponsor (travel and accommodation) the participation of a certain number of non-EU eligible participants in fields such as:
• academia (such as university/training/research leadership involved in teaching or curriculum from schools/faculties of agriculture or similarly involved; heads of special services linked to teaching, e.g. career centres, diversity, equity and inclusion function, quality assurance);
• non-EU Ministerial representatives connected to education/agriculture/accreditation;
• private sector (chambers of commerce, startups, employers associations) and NGOs/nonprofits;
