This destination aims to be obtained more performant renewable energy solutions by providing a more efficient, clean, sustainable, safe and competitive energy supply. In this context, in order to strengthen the place of Europe in the global chain and to reach the expected performance on this field;

  • Energy systems and energy storage,
  • Smart and cyber secure grids,
  • Carbon Capture, Use and Storage (CCUS) are emerging as key players.

The calls to be opened within the scope of this destination have been collected under four main topics:

Global leadership in renewable energy: Under this topic, it is aimed to raise awareness by developing projects with low-cost and high-efficiency renewable energy technologies instead of fossil-based energy technologies.

Energy systems, grids and storage:

The main expected issues from the proposals under this topic are listed below:

  • Development of flexible energy systems and grids that provide stability in different conditions,
  • Improved energy storage technologies, in particular heat storage,
  • Standardization of devices that can share / exchange data between energy service providers,
  • Enhance consumer satisfaction and increased system flexibility,
  • New electricity transmission technologies and solutions developed for the transportation of offshore wind energy are gathered under this heading
  • Enhance consumer satisfaction and increased system flexibility thanks to enabling consumers to benefit from data-driven energy services and facilitating their investment and engagement in the energy transition.

Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS): Under this topic, it is expected to submit project proposals that will support the integration of CCUS into high emission industrial centres and hubs at the most affordable cost.

Cross-cutting issues: Three different call topics were opened in order to prevent the problems of duplication in overlapping areas and to establish an effective communication mechanism between the relevant parties. These are:

  • Support to the activities of the European Geological Services,
  • Support to the activities of the ETIPs and technology areas of the SET Plan,
  • The Clean Energy Transition partnership is expected to contribute to the overarching goal of transitioning to a clean energy system by pooling national and regional resources/funding programmes thus overcoming a fragmented approach. The calls to be  published within the scope of CETP, it is aimed to establish R&D programs that will serve Europe-wide energy transformation and to establish cooperation between national programs.

Budget: 583.80 Million Euros (2021)
