ERC 2026 Consolidator Grant Call is Now Open for Applications. Applications can be submitted until 13 January 2026.
This call targets scientists who have already achieved scientific independence, possess creative and original ideas, and aim to strengthen their research group or programme with groundbreaking and ambitious research projects.
Eligibility:
Researchers who defended their PhD between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2018 are eligible to apply.
In cases of special circumstances (such as maternity, military service, or long-term illness), the eligibility period may be extended in line with the applicable rules.
Budget and Funding Opportunities:
Successful projects may receive up to €2 million for a period of 5 years.
An additional €1 million may be requested to cover costs for large equipment purchases, extensive fieldwork, or similar justifications.
For researchers currently working in third countries (e.g. the US, Canada, Japan) who plan to relocate to an EU Member State or Associated Country (e.g. Türkiye) under an ERC project, up to €2 million of additional “start-up” funding may be provided for laboratory setup and team building. For example, a researcher planning to move from the US to Türkiye with an ERC project could request up to €4 million in total funding.
This call offers a significant funding opportunity for researchers based in Türkiye or planning to return to Türkiye from abroad.
Call Budget:
A total of €673 million has been allocated under the ERC 2026 Consolidator Grant call, aiming to support around 328 projects across all scientific fields.
