The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is supporting and accelerating innovation excellence across Europe, as well as aiding the capacity building of modest and emerging innovation countries as per the European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS). The EIT primarily does this through the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS), which is implemented by its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs).
2021 marks both the first year of the new EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda (SIA) 2021-2027 and the seventh year since the establishment of the EIT RIS. This report provides insight into the main activities, deployed services and cooperation mechanisms that took place as part of the EIT RIS in 2021. Moreover, it highlights success stories from start-ups and innovators that have benefitted from the collaboration with the EIT KICs and created an impact with their innovative solutions tackling major societal and environmental challenges.
This report gives an overview of the main programmes and services provided by the EIT KICs in RIS-eligible countries in 2021, such as business support activities for start-ups, and training and innovation activities fostering the next generation of European innovators. Additionally, the report includes testimonials and success stories from supported entrepreneurs.
This report also gives a snapshot of the progress of the EIT RIS and its achievements between 2014 and 2021.
