EIT Urban Mobility First Calls for BP2022 - 2024 Frequently Asked Questions Document is Published

EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Since January 2019 they have been working to encourage positive changes in the way people move around cities in order to make them more liveable places. The aim is to become the largest European initiative transforming urban mobility. Co-funding of up to € 400 million (2020-2026) from the EIT, a body of the European Union, will help make this happen.

EIT Urban Mobility First Calls for BP2022 - 2024 Frequently Asked Questions Document is Published

The current version of the First Calls for Business Plan 2022 - 2024 FAQ addresses the main questions relevant before proposal submission. Further information will follow for entities which will finally be involved in proposal submissions (after 18 May 2021) as well as to those entities who get awarded (beginning of August 2021).

Digitalization of Batteries for Smart Energy and Transport Systems Workshop

The event is organised in collaboration with the ETIP SNET and EGVIA.

"Horizon Europe Promotion Activities: Green and Digital Transformation Climate, Energy and Mobility | Digital, Industry and Space" Will Be Held on 4th May 2021

The Horizon Europe Programme, which is the main financial support tool of the European Union (EU) in the field of research and innovation, is the most ambitious civil R&D and innovation programme in the world with a budget of 95.5 billion Euros. The aim of the Programme, which will be implemented between the years 2021 and 2027, is to increase the global competitiveness of the EU by providing support in the fields of research, development and technology, especially innovation activities that have the potential to create a market.

The first calls for proposals for the Horizon Europe Programme in the 2021-2027 period are expected to open in the coming weeks. Within the scope of these calls, technology development activities at all stages from basic research projects to market opening and commercialization will be supported. In this context, researchers, academics, non-governmental organizations, early-stage technology-based initiatives, public institutions, SMEs and companies will be able to apply to the programme calls.

On this occasion, a series of information days will be organised where the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, the President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, and senior representatives of relevant ministries and public institutions will take part as opening speakers. These information days will be held for the following Horizon Europe clusters: "Food, Bioeconomics and Environment", "Health", "Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Societies" and "Green and Digital Transformation".

On the 4th May, 2021, the Horizon Europe Digital, Industry and Space (Cluster 4)" and "Climate, Energy and Mobility (Cluster 5)" information day event will take place.

The New European Bauhaus Conference (22-23 April 2021)

EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) Webinars

The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) is designed for modest and moderate innovators countries (according to the European Innovation Scoreboard), and where EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities have few or no partners. Strategically, the scheme is an additional offer to these countries to facilitate their engagement with the EIT Community.

Turkey, as a member of H2020 Associated Countries, is eligible to join RIS.

European Conference on Access to Risk Finance for Clean Energy Technologies

Online “European Conference on Access to Risk Finance for Clean Energy Technologies” will be held on 25-27 May 2021 by SMARTSPEND project in order to gather clean energy technology stakeholders from all over Europe.

The objective of the Conference is to display the EU’s funding offers for clean energy demonstration projects, offer private finance actors the opportunity to present their involvement in new energy technologies and provide the possibility for both energy projects developers and finance providers to meet during a matchmaking event.

An International Open Conference on "Emerging Infectious Diseases and related environmental, clinical and translational challenges" will be held on 27th of April

On behalf of AICIB and Portugal's Presidency of the European Council I am excited to invite you to the upcoming Conference on “Emerging Infectious Diseases and related environmental, clinical and translational challenges”, focused on the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (free event, 27th of April) #EU2021PT

The meeting will cover SARS-CoV-2 variants, drugs and vaccines. Speakers include Özlem Türeci BioNTech SE and Mariagrazia Pizza GSK on vaccine development, Nevan Krogan on molecular studies for drug discovery and Eran Segal on the real world impact of vaccination.

It also features a high level round-table discussion with Jeremy Farrar (Wellcome Trust), Sylvie Briand (WHO), Ewan Birney (EMBL) and Dominique Costagliola (iPLESP/INSERM) which we hope can be though provoking and go over important issues such as equitable access to vaccines and how to prepare for the future.

General & Introductory Training Event (Online) ICT & Digital Transformation & Resilient Industry (Cluster 4) Info Day Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase-II, 8 April 2021

The online Info Day on ICT & Digital Transformation & Resilient Industry (Cluster 4) was held on April 8, 2021 with 150 Zoom and 30 YouTube participants. The event was organized within the scope of Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase II Project, which is co-financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey and managed by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Programme of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

The event opened with the speech of Dr. Hale Ay, TÜBİTAK Horizon 2020 Materials and Manufacturing Technologies National Contact Point. Emphasizing the importance of the event and drawing attention to the nature of Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2021-24, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) & Digital Transformation, and Work Programme for Resilient Industry (Cluster 4), Ms. Ay commenced the session by mentioning some successful examples of Horizon 2020 in Turkey and some useful links that shareholders in Turkey could benefit from, and gave the floor to specialist Marta Calderaro from Italian Coordination Office of Framework Programmes (APRE). 

Providing information about Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2021-2024 and mentioning the fundamental strategic guidance, the expected effects, and new approaches in Horizon Europe; Marta Calderaro, overall, informed the participants about the differences between Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 and answered their questions. In the second session of the event, Odysseas Spyroglou, the Key Expert in Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase-II Project, and Dr. Adamantios Koumpis shared their knowledge on Horizon Europe Call and Proposal Documents and answered the questions of the participants. After the Q&A session, Marta Calderaro shared fruitful information with the participants about the calls for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) & Digital Transformation & Work Programme for Resilient Industry (Cluster 4) in the third session.

In the last session of the introductory training event, TEKNOPAR Assistant General Manager Dr. Perin Ünal provided examples of successful applications that have been funded within the scope of Horizon 2020. The event ended with a Q&A session after Miss Ünal's presentation. Throughout the event, instant survey questions were used to ensure the interactive involvement of the participants in the event and to share their experiences within the scope of R&D field. Participants answered instant survey questions throughout the event, enabling them to participate interactively and to share their R&D experiences.
