WEBINARS FOR SMES 6

The Webinar content was based on an initial presentation from TÜBİTAK, followed by a brief presentation on the Accelerator programme, then the main part of the Webinar. This involved a summary from each of the 3 experts involved, covering issues encountered in dealing with SME bids. The three main evaluation aspects of ‘Impact,’ ‘Excellence,’ and ‘Implementation’ were used to focus information and questions. Finally, there was a general presentation on issues encountered with the structure and operation of the SMEs involved.

2ND GENERAL AND INTRODUCTORY TRAINING ON HORIZON EUROPE

PROJECT WRITING CAMPS ON ERC (STG AND COG)

The four number of PWC ERC events were not only the trainings. It was asynchronous training based on the same resources. It was the ERC Masterclass composed of live webinars, on-line support tools and mastering the proposals videoconferences. The objective of the ERC Masterclass was to help ERC applicants to develop their personal narrative with regard to the scientific impact their project will generate, instead of the traditional focus on the societal and economic impact. Such a new narrative requires new vocabulary and a focused structure: this means training researchers in a new logic, where the focus is on what ground breaking science means in their specific field.

GENERAL AND INTRODUCTORY TRAINING ON HORIZON EUROPE

The event, where the opening speech was made by the TÜBİTAK Horizon 2020 Energy National Contact Point, Mr. Çağrı Yıldırım, commenced with the presentation by Director of TÜBİTAK Directorate for International Cooperation, Mr. Mete Karaca. Mr. Karaca, referring to Turkey’s Horizon 2020 performance, highlighted that Turkey is also a significant stakeholder for the Horizon Europe. Afterwards, Mr. Karaca provided comprehensive information about Horizon Europe’s working groups and general budget distribution. Mr. Karaca concluded his presentation by mentioning developments with regards to Turkey’s participation in Horizon Europe Programme.

 

In the continuation of the event, Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase-II Project Team performed presentations that touched upon Horizon Europe’s structure, financial provisions, and the new Model Grant Agreement (MGA) whereas both TÜBİTAK AND Project experts answered participant’s questions during and after the presentations. During the ongoing process, TÜBİTAK Coordinatorship and ERC EBAG Program National Contact Point Ms. Damla Or, later, highlighted Support Mechanisms in Horizon Europe for Turkish beneficiaries and signified TÜBİTAK European Union Framework Support programs and awards for incentive purposes. Throughout the event, participants were interactively asked instant poll questions, enabling participants to participate actively.

FOCUS GROUP TRAINING ON GREEN DEAL

As part of the ‘Turkey in Horizon 2020’ project, we have pleased to organise a Focus Group Training for organizations (academic and research institutes, private companies, public sector organizations, NGOs etc) who want prepare proposals for the following topics:

  • LC-GD-2-1-2020: Innovative land-based and offshore renewable energy technologies and their integration into the energy system
  • LC-GD-2-2-2020: Develop and demonstrate a 100 MW electrolyser upscaling the link between renewables and commercial/industrial applications
  • LC-GD-2-3-2020: Accelerating the green transition and energy access Partnership with Africa
  • LC-GD-3-1-2020: Closing the industrial carbon cycle to combat climate change -Industrial feasibility of catalytic routes for sustainable alternatives to fossil resources
  • LC-GD-4-1-2020: Building and renovating in an energy and resource efficient way
  • LC-GD-5-1-2020: Green airports and ports as multimodal hubs for sustainable and smart mobility

The training covered all topics related to proposal writing covering all sections, strategies for identifying strong partners, and topics related to the evaluation of proposals.

Horizon 2020 Green Deal International Networking Event (Virtual)

A Horizon 2020 Green Deal International Networking Event (Virtual) with over 500 participants was organised on 23rd October 2020. The event was held under The “Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase – II Project” which is co-financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey and managed by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Programme of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

The event commenced with precious opening speeches by TUBITAK President Prof. Hasan Mandal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs & Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey Mehmet Fatih Kacır, European Commission DG Research & Innovation Deputy Director-General Signe Ratso, EU Delegation to Turkey Minister Counsellor Eleftheria Pertzinidou.

Following the welcome speeches, the event continued with parallel workshops in 4 different Green Deal areas. In these sessions, both European and Turkish participants from various sectors had the opportunity to listen to the thematic presentations conducted by EU Commission officers and to ask them questions. At the end of the parallel workshops, a presentation session was held for the participants to share their project ideas with the aim of networking. The event was concluded with a final session in which nearly 1000 one-to-one meetings were held, allowing participants from all over Europe to meet with Turkish counterparts.

WEB5 – ‘Questions and Answers Relating to Accelerator Proposal Submission’

As part of “Turkey in Horizon 2020” project, we organised the fifth a series of free webinars for SMEs on Questions and Answers Relating to Accelerator Proposal Submission programme.

The webinar consisted of short presentations by national and international experts covering EC requirements, Turkish experience and evaluator interpretation of the 3 key elements of an Accelerator proposal; IMPACTEXCELLENCE and IMPLEMENTATION. The event also covered the requirements for Annex content and good practice in preparing Pitch Deck presentations. The main purpose of the event was for SMEs to raise questions under these headings so that the panel of experts can help by providing answers during transmission.

EUROPEAN RESEARCH AND INNOVATION DAYS 2020

European Research and Innovation Days 2020 were help completely online. For 3 days experts from across Europe presented success stories, policy initiative and ideas as well as a glimpse into the forthcoming Horizon Europe.
