This first call was launched on 11 December 2017 and will close on 9 March 2018. On that date the POs (Project Outlines) will have to have been received at SMART. The following projects, according to the SMART Technology Roadmap, must be addressed:
- Advanced Manufacturing Processes
- Intelligent and Adaptive Manufacturing Systems
- Digital, Virtual and Efficient Companies
- Person-Machine Collaboration
- Sustainable Manufacturing
- Customer-based Manufacturing
Upon receipt, the POs will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee that will present its assessment on 30 March 2018 at the latest. On that date, the projects that will go ahead will be known, and the FPPs (Full Project Proposals) will have to be developed before the EUREKA Label is finally obtained. This will qualify them as fundable by the different National Funding Authorities.
EUREKA is an intergovernmental group created in 1985 whose aim is to improve the competitiveness of European industry. It is an international technology cooperation platform that supports R&D&I market-orientated projects, facilitating access to national funding to entities participating in them.
Within this group, SMART is the new EUREKA Cluster on Advanced Manufacturing that has obtained the EUREKA Applicant Label, with the support of the following countries: South Korea, Slovakia, Spain, Norway, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden and Turkey.
More than 135 entities from 20 different countries have expressed interest in participating in future SMART projects.
SMART is a new R&D&I Advanced Manufacturing Programme, led by AFM – Advanced Manufacturing Technologies - and MONDRAGON Corporation, which will enable the execution of high TRL (close to market) international projects. The SMART projects will be led by industry and will have national funding from each country, upon approval by EUREKA.
