It was dedicated to provide to participants practical knowledge of proposal evaluation. Therefore, it was divided into a number of sessions reflecting practical steps in proposal evaluation.

The objectives of the event were the following:

• To train IMs on evaluation process in H2020 and how to identify strong and weak points of the proposals from evaluator’s perspective.
• To provide IMS with practical knowledge on proposal evaluation against the evaluation criteria.
• To enable IMS to provide support to their customers to improve the quality of their proposals.

Another successful event was organised by Turkey in H2020 project team and TUBITAK, in the eve of 2016. It brought together more than 280 researchers, entrepreneurs and academics from Europe and Turkey. Following the welcome addresses from Dr Orkun Hasekioğlu, Vice President of TÜBİTAK and Tom Bo Clausen, from European Commission (Through an on-line Video call), 4 paralel workshops were organised in the following areas:

• IoT
• Big Data
• Robotics
• Photonics
• Micro- and Nano-electronics

The first General Training event of 2017 of “Turkey in Horizon2020” Project took place by the slopes of Erzurum, in Polat Erzurum Resort Hotel.

Cities of the Future Brokerage Event took place last week in Istanbul. It was a very successful and fruitful event with close to 300 participants meeting together and exchanging ideas. 288 participants came to the event from Turkey and Europe.

WIDESPREAD 2017 Teaming Call addresses the challenge of Research and Innovation (R&I) area convergence among European countries, both EU member states and associated countries. It is a call of strategic importance for Turkish Research institutions that aim at creating new “Centres of Excellence” and create and promote a long-term science and innovation strategy.

A very successful workshop took place for a full week (9-13 May 2016), organised by “Turkey in Horizon 2020” Project with the active support of TUBITAK and the Turkish Ministry of Development. The workshop’s aim was to provide a “hands-on” practical training, to selected coordinators in the preparation of key sections of their project proposals. This Proposal Development Workshop offered to the participants the chance to learn from experienced experts with long involvement in successful H2020 proposals and projects.

It was a demanding, interactive, 5-days’ workshop, where the 22 participants presented their ideas, discussed their strategies, shared experiences and learned how to avoid mistakes in their proposal.

An identical, 2nd workshop will be organized on the 18th of July, to give the opportunity to, even more, participants to improve their skills and their chances of success in the call.

Both events are organised in Ankara Plaza hotel, in the centre of the city (Bestekar Sok. No:5 Kavaklidere Ankara).

A total number of 2,005 proposals were submitted in response to the SME-1 (Phase I) May 3rd 2016 cut-off (H2020-SMEINST-1-2016_03_05_2016). The number of proposals for each topic is shown below:

The 3rd Focus Group Training dedicated on Legal and Financial Issues in H2020 projects, took place last week in Istanbul.

The 1st Access to Risk Finance event took place in Istanbul on May 26th, 2016. It was a full day and a very successful event with experts and key speakers coming from Turkey in H2020 project, TUBITAK, International Development Ireland (IDI), European Investment Bank (EIB), ACT Venture Capital and Borsa Istanbul.
