General Information

European Partnership on Accelerating Farming Systems Transition – Agroecology Living Labs and Research Infrastructures (AGROECOLOGY)

The AGROECOLOGY Partnership aims to establish and support a European-wide network of living labs and research infrastructures that accelerates the transition to agroecology. It will provide spaces for long-term, site-specific, multi-stakeholder, and real-life experiences, helping farmers adopt and implement agroecological practices at the necessary scale to achieve positive economic, environmental, and social impacts. These efforts will equip farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to understand and apply agroecological practices effectively.

By 2030, the ecosystem around agroecology will be better connected at the EU level, knowledge of agroecological processes will enhance adoption by farmers and stakeholders, and the social performance of farming will be improved.

The project, rooted in the principles of agroecology, living labs, and research infrastructures, targets and benefits key stakeholders, including public institutions operating in agriculture, research organizations, research infrastructures, regional and local authorities, living labs, and farmers.

Agroecology, as a holistic approach, aims to contribute positively to healthier ecosystems and biodiversity. It is one of the tools capable of reducing pressure on input costs and enabling long-term improvements in productivity without harming agricultural production capacity.

Agroecology focuses on economically viable farming practices, creating biodiversity, climate- and environment-friendly circular and sustainable agricultural systems, and related value chains. It aims to ensure resilient, productive, site-sensitive farming practices that are widespread and contribute to securing EU food security.
