“Cities of the Future 2017” Brokerage Event

  29 May 2017

“Cities of the Future 2017”
International Brokerage Event
Steigenberger Wiltcher’s , Brussels, Belgium
26-27 October 2017

Organized by the “Turkey In Horizon 2020” project and TUBITAK National Coordination Office for EU Framework Programmes.

The “Cities of the Future 2017” Brokerage Event will be held in Brussels on the 26 and 27th of October 2017 and will bring together up to 400 researchers, industry professionals, government officials and policy makers from Europe and Turkey

The event will target the following H2020 topics:

  • “Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Cities” and “Energy Efficient Buildings”
  • “Circular Economy (SPIRE, Raw Materials and Water)
  • “Mobility for Growth,” “Automated Road Transport” and “The European Green Vehicles Initiative”
  • “Smart Energy Systems and Consumers”

“Cities of the Future 2017” is meant as a wider concept that encompasses cities’ overall energy and resource efficiency with profound economic, social and environmental impacts, resulting in a better quality of life. In this context ‘Green Vehicles’ play an essential role, as well as further advances in ‘Factories of the Future’ or ‘Sustainable Process Industries’, for increased resource efficiency, new markets, and new job.

This event provides a unique opportunity to connect not only with Turkish and European researchers but also with highly qualified research-performing SMEs, making this event an excellent platform to expand networks and create new partnerships for the upcoming calls in Horizon 2020.

All participants are strongly encouraged to present their organisations and project ideas at the workshops. You can download the presentation template here and sent it back to us in CoF@turkeyinH2020.eu.

Our project will reimburse travel expenses (air tickets) and accommodation for a (limited) number of participants from Turkey and EU Member States and Associated Countries. Find the process here.

Turkish SME awarded SME Instrument Phase 2 grand

  09 March 2017

An Innovative Turkish SME has just been awarded a major €2m EU grant under the ‘Turkey in Horizon 2020’ programme.

Ankara based Kuartismed have developed a unique electronic medical device which analyses the swallowing patterns of pre-term babies. Using sophisticated algorithms specially developed by the company to analyse these patterns, the device indicates whether the infant is swallowing correctly and frequently enough.

Feedback from these tiny patients allows medical staff to make sure that enough vital nutrients are reaching the infants in the crucial early days of incubator care. This potentially life-saving device was seen as highly innovative by EC evaluators who could see the potential to both save lives and to open new markets. Kuartismed were awarded the valuable grant to complete their research and clinical trials so that the device can reach the market and soon start saving precious lives.

One-to-One Consultancy for over 40 companies

  03 March 2017

A key feature of the Turkey in Horizon 2020 programme is a series of one-to-one consultancy visits made by one of our Key Experts to high-technology Turkish companies who could benefit from the Horizon 2020 programme.

At the end of the first year of the project over 40 companies had been visited. These ranged from leading-edge IT companies in areas such as distance learning and flight simulators to highly specialised businesses in key areas of research from stem cells to robotics and underwater exploration. Each company receives a detailed report following the half-day visit. The Expert’s report focuses not only on suitability for Horizon 2020 and national R&D funding but also discusses key business issues such as future product and business strategies and potential markets.

Roughly 80% of the project ideas discussed with these businesses were considered suitable for EC support. For further information contact the NCP for your sector at TÜBİTAK or the Turkey in Horizon 2020 Helpdesk.
