General Information

This partnership will accelerate the development and deployment of European value chain for clean hydrogen technologies, contributing to a sustainable, decarbonised and fully integrated energy system and to the communication on "a hydrogen strategy for a climate-neutral Europe” (COM/2020/301). Focus is placed on producing, distributing and storing clean hydrogen and, supplying hard to decarbonise sectors such as heavy industries and heavy-duty transport applications.

The Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking should strengthen and integrate Union scientific capacity to accelerate the development and improvement of advanced clean hydrogen applications ready for market, across energy, transport, building and industrial end-uses.

The partnership will be composed of two main entity; Hydrogen Europe Research and Hydrogen Europe Industry. Hydrogen Europe Research (HER) is an international non–profit association composed of 91 universities and Research & Technology Organisations (RTO) from 26 countries all over Europe and beyond. Hydrogen Europe Industry brings together diverse industry players, large companies and SMEs, who support the delivery of hydrogen and fuel cells technologies. We do this to enable the adoption of an abundant and reliable energy which efficiently fuels Europe’s low carbon economy. Although the membership for both entities are not compulsory to apply call topics, through hydrogen Europe memberships, entities could be part of the strongest hydrogen and fuel cell network and be able to shape strategic objectives, priorities and
