Within the scope of the “Technical Assistance for Türkiye in Horizon Europe” project, implemented by TÜBİTAK with the financial cooperation of the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, a “Horizon Europe Project Writing Training” was held on 16–17 April 2025, hosted by Karadeniz Technical University. The training attracted strong participation from academics, researchers, and representatives from both the public and private sectors.

On the first day of the two-day training program, participants were introduced to the structure, objectives, and key success factors for funding of the Horizon Europe Programme. Through the I.C.R.E.A.T.E.S. and C.R.I.T.E.R.I.A. formulas, they explored the full proposal development cycle, consortium building strategies, and tips to impress evaluators.

On the second day, participants were divided into groups based on their areas of interest and worked on various tasks. The groups examined previously funded projects via CORDIS and project websites, discussing the reasons behind their selection. They also identified calls involving social science disciplines and connected with the social media channels of relevant executive agencies. Participants either researched experts commissioned by the European Commission and their contact details or developed new project ideas based on seven principles, defining the required expertise. In the second session, each group presented their outputs and exchanged ideas. Through group presentations and expert feedback, hands-on learning was supported, allowing participants to gain valuable experience in both developing project ideas and fostering collaboration opportunities.
