Abstract: The First6G project is an initiative led by SMEs and universities in Europe, aiming to develop critical data converter and sub-THz frontend technologies crucial for the proliferation of 6G. The main goal of the project is to contribute to the widespread adoption of 6G technology by providing TRx solutions that meet the requirements of 6G, such as modulation bandwidth up to 16 GHz, high signal quality, low power consumption, and low cost. To achieve this goal, the project will adopt advanced technologies, including new microchip architectures and enhanced packaging technologies, using innovative methods.
Expected outcomes include the development of new technical concepts for data converters and frontends, integration of high-performance TRx components, and the use of automation algorithms in frontend design. The project is anticipated to make a substantial impact, not just in terms of technology, but also on the European economy.
Expected Product/Output/Gain from the Project: The FirstTo6G is aiming to add significant contributions to the development of 6G. The project involves the design and integration of new technical concepts in data converters, frontends, and high-performance TRx components. These outcomes will be utilized for the development of high-performance millimeter wave/early 6G products. Through this project, the aim is to provide positive contributions to society's welfare.
The importance of tackling global-scale challenges: The project will enable the widespread implementation of 6G, thereby providing extremely positive contributions to the welfare of society.
The contribution to the development of professional skills and expertise: Academic partners will transfer their knowledge to students through lectures, seminars, and other methods, thereby contributing to a highly qualified workforce for tomorrow's semiconductor industry. This will enable the creation of experts in circuit design, hardware/software code design, communication systems, and application design fields.
The contribution to human resource development: The project team includes individuals who provide and receive academic-level education. Through the activities carried out within the project, these individuals will enhance their academic knowledge through innovative methods, thereby contributing to their personal and professional development.
The project's target audience: Researchers, General Public, Decision-makers, SMEs and large industries, Consumers
