H-HOPE:HIDDEN HYDRO OSCILLATING POWER FOR EUROPE

The overall goal of the H-HOPE project is to develop and demonstrate an innovative and sustainable hydropower technology able to recover hidden hydro energy in non-hydropower hydraulic systems with a particular focus on existing water facilities (i.e., water drinking network, waste-water treatment plants, water irrigation systems, etc.) and free-flowing water streams (i.e., water currents in natural and artificial open channels).

The H-HOPE ambition is to go far beyond the state-of-art in hydraulic network, demonstrating in real operating environment the feasible and sustainable application of the concept of non-linear energy harvesting oscillator in non-hydropower hydraulic systems.

the project will minimize the cost by adopting a low-cost manufacturing solution based on a non-linear oscillating system whose performance will be maximized by a multi-physics, sustainable and optimized design approach, exploiting vortex-induced vibrations.

To demonstrate the performance of the H-HOPE technology and to ensure its easier scalability at EU level, eight case studies, covering all the targeted applications and located over the Europe, will be used in the H-HOPE project.
