Scientific Outputs
The CIRCLE project aims to harmonize islands of research in Molecular Communications across Europe by providing a structured research agenda to accelerate convergence and advance breakthrough research within the area. Theoretical and experimental investigation into an intra-body sensor network enabling the networking together of advanced tumour treatment techniques for diseases like cancer will be developed. The combined detection and treatment techniques include circulating tumour cell (CTC) detection in the blood stream, injection of genetically modified bacteria into the tumour mass, real time monitoring of the tumour evolution and bacteria transcriptome, proteome, and concentration in time and body organs, thus leading to a plethora of highly disruptive treatment techniques to be developed. In addition,
- Harmonized research methodologies and techniques within the area of Molecular Communications.
- Breakthrough advances in molecular communication research through focused critical mass.
Tackling ‘grand’ or societal challenges
Scientific progress towards a Key Enabling Technology for future bio medical applications for biological systems including humans will be possible with this project.
Industrial Innovation (including innovation in services as well as products and processes)
This project will pave the way for industry engagement with impact on innovative medical solutions.
