Scientific Outputs
Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) virus is a neglected emerging pathogen, which causes widespread and fatal epidemics in humans in Europe including Turkey, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Today there is no licensed approved vaccine against CCHF virus. The CCHFVaccine project aims to build a multidisciplinary research network able to deliver vaccine candidates against CCHF virus, methods, procedures eligible for clinical trials with a special focus on prevention this disease. It will also fill gaps in CCHF virus research on immunology and vaccinology and address the bottleneck for vaccine development for viral emerging epidemics. Scientific data obtained from the researches of the Project will be published in the respected scientific journals and contribute to the scientific reputation of our country.
Tackling ‘grand’ or societal challenges
Natural epidemics and outbreaks of emerging viral epidemics are growing problems internationally. CCHFVaccine Project will deliver tools for countering the threat of the CCHF infection in Europe and endemic areas of the world.
Industrial Innovation (including innovation in services as well as products and processes)
This Horizon 2020 project will lead to the development of both human and animal vaccines for CCHF disease, which is the important zoonotic infection in Turkey and other endemic countries and will help reducing the mortality and economic loss due to this disease. To achieve this overall aim, an intensive work plan will be put in to link this project to public health bodies, non governmental organisations and vaccine companies.

The financial support from the project budget will contribute to the development of laboratory facilities.
The improved exercise of professional skill
Young researchers involved in the project will be sent to the other Project centers in different countries to develop their knowledge and skills.
Human capital development
Within the scope of the Research Laboratory carried out by Professor Nazif ELALDI in the Advanced Technology Institute at Cumhuriyet University, a team of consisting of 2 researchers, and a doctorate student are working under the project.
