Aim of the Project
    SCAPE aims proposing a standardisable, modular, and scalable approach, based on multilevel technology, for the design of the EV power conversion systems.

Scientific/Social/Economic/Innovative Contribution 

  •      Attain modular and efficient EV powertrain architectures, benefiting from the superior performance of widebandgap (WBG) semiconductor devices, taking full advantage of advanced integration technologies, and using scalable approaches that can cover from two wheelers to heavy-duty long-haul EVs.
  •     Design a basic building block using a board-integration methodology to obtain highly-compact converter boards, with improved thermal behaviour, minimized stray inductance, low electromagnetic interferences (EMIs) and increased power density.
  •     Develop advanced modulation and control techniques for the EV power converters, aiming to improve the EV powertrain performance and reliability, allowing for lifetime extension, fault tolerance, reduced EMIs, and increased powertrain efficiency

Importance in Solving Global Problems
     SCAPE technology offers a great potential to reduce greenhouse effect gases. Assuming that by 2030, SCAPE technology is used in 10% of the EU EV fleet and it is estimated that SCAPE technology will contribute on decreasing EV energy consumption by 920 GWh. Considering the average European energy mix, this translates to reduction of 146.000 tons of CO2 by 2030.

Industrial Innovation (including innovation in services as well as products and processes)
    Establishing a novel modular and scalable methodology that allows designing power converters for a wide range of EV applications. 
    Lowering the cost of power-converters, taking advantage of standardizing design and manufacturing procedures.
    Increasing the efficiency, power density, and reliability of power converters with the help of advanced board integration technologies and advanced control strategies. 

Research-induced Changes in National Policies and Strategies

  •     Developing a modular, scalable and reliable design approach for high efficient, advanced power converters will contribute to our country's electric vehicle production vision by increasing the efficiency of electric vehicles and lowering the costs. In addition, project outputs will contribute to domestic electric vehicle production studies.
  • Its Effect on Foreign Dependency and Current Account Deficit
  •     By means of improved, more efficient and reliable powertrain architectures, electric vehicle technologies that meet user needs at a higher level will be achieved, and this will accelerate the removal of fossil fuels at the national level. When this achievement is combined with the breakthrough that our country aims in the field of electric vehicle technologies; It is aimed to increase the public's preference for domestically produced electric vehicles and, accordingly, to reduce foreign dependency and current account deficit.

Contribution to the Development of Professional Skills and Professional Abilities
    Due to the technical knowledge and technology transfer to be obtained during the project studies, the competencies of the engineers in our country will be increased. In this way, the potential to provide more competitive and high quality products/services in the country will be enhanced.

Contribution to the Development of Human Resources
     As a result of multi-partner and highly integrated studies, the project team skills, and indirectly the overall company skills, will be developed in terms of both professionally and socially, and a more competent human resource will be obtained for the upcoming local and international studies. Moreover; the fact that more studies will be carried out in this field with the knowledge gained will pave the way for additional human resource employment and growth.
