www.hypobatt.euAim of the Project
The aim is to develop the necessary systems on the shore and the vessel side to carry out modular multi-MW charging at two European ports with fast turnaround times for electric ships with large built-in batteries in the project.
Scientific/Social/Economic/Innovative Contribution
HYPOBATT will supply a modular, fast and simple multi-megawatt charging system that will enable the ships to be connected to the charging station and charged within a very short time after docking. Due to the intended modularity of the port-side charging stations, electrified port vehicles should also make use of this infrastructure in further steps, thus reducing the overall CO2 balance of a port. Further goals of the project are the standardization of the fast charging system for ferries as well as the development of new business models for battery-powered boats, which should make electric ferry operations safer, faster and more sustainable at other locations in the future.
Importance in Solving Global Problems
The ability to charge ship batteries with electric propulsion systems independently of the ship and its capacity will enable the acceleration of the transition to electric marine vehicles, thereby reducing dependency on fossil fuels that have a significant impact on climate change
Industrial Innovation (including innovation in services as well as products and processes)
A universal ship charging infrastructure with moduler multiple MW charging support
Research-induced Changes in National Policies and Strategies
By accumulating technical knowledge during the project, competitive product development policies can be created, and our country's market share can be increased.
Contribution to the Development of Professional Skills and Professional Abilities
Through the sharing of information in coordinated efforts with other partners during the project, collective technical and professional knowledge accumulation can be achieved.
