Scientific Outputs
The state of the art in land spread of biosolids through the investigation of the toxic effects and bioaccumulation of silver nanoparticles and its transformation products in soil organisms will be advanced.
Tackling ‘grand’ or societal challenges
The outcomes of the projects could be used to educate and encourage the farmers for the usage of the wastewater treatment sludge as fertilizer in the agricultural applications. The encouragement of the reuse of the treated sludge as an alternative to the chemical fertilizers will provide benefits to waste reduction and green chemistry issues.
Industrial Innovation (including innovation in services as well as products and processes)
The outcomes of the project will contribute to the industrial innovation in terms of the design of safer silver nanoparticles for the environment.
Research-influenced changes in policy, agenda-setting
Project outputs will enable necessary actions to propose the maximum allowable concentration of silver nanoparticles in wastewater treatment sludges to the guidelines for biosolids applications
The provision of Improved Public Goods
Ministries and municipalities can use the outcomes of the project to educate farmers about the efficient agricultural applications and to inform the consumers about the safety of agricultural products amended with wastewater treatment sludge.
The improved exercise of professional skill
The project will enhance the abilities of the researcher to apply ecotoxicological studies and to convert th scientific research outputs to the practical applications of public needs.
Human capital development
The coordinator of the project will gain the experience of working independently in scientific research.
