The title of the project FLAMENCO stands for "A Fully-Implantable MEMS-Based Autonomous Cochlear Implant". With the method developed in the FLAMENCO project a brand new page will be opened in the cochlear implant technology. Besides electronics engineering and medicine, researchers from mechanical engineering and biology fields will also participate in this project. The proposed device is the first fully implantable self-powered cochlear implant, mimicking the natural hearing, and it eliminates the major drawbacks of conventional implants. The implant will contain a next-generation ultra low-power interface electronics. Moreover, the system level integration of the implant will be beyond the current state-of-the-ar
Industrial Innovation (including innovation in services as well as products and processes)
FLAMENCO introduces a fully implantable, autonomous, and low-power cochlear implant. The implant will establish an important progress for the hearing-impaired people.
