Aim of the Project
•Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to present new structural designs and vehicle concepts for vehicles that are safer, lighter, sustainable and adaptable to different collision scenarios.

Scientific/Social/Economic/Innovative Contribution
• Development and validation of innovative, sustainable and circular materials (aluminium, composite, hybrid) for structural components
• Examining future accident scenarios to understand technical requirements
•Optimization of production technologies and processes
• Detection of critical accidents with the development of ADAS system algorithms
• Accident analysis with advanced simulation and virtual tests
• Developing recycling and reuse with a circular economy approach
• Verification of simulations by performing physical crash tests

Importance in Solving Global Problems
• SALIENT project aims to contribute to the development of safer and more sustainable structures throughout the life cycles of future vehicles by examining vehicle development practices in automotive safety. It allows the structures to be lightened by 42.7% and to consume less energy at the same distance. In this way, carbon emissions are reduced. With the optimization of production processes, it can contribute to the
conservation of energy by operating efficiently with less cost.

Industrial Innovation (including innovation in services as well as products and processes)
•Manufacture of vehicle front-end structures from 100% recyclable aluminium and using lower density composite materials compared to other materials
• 20% reduction in production time, 10% reduction in cost and 5% reduction in post-process waste
• Increasing circularity and recyclability to over 95% by weight
• Innovative strategies in topology designs
• Validation of optimized designs
• Development of innovative ADAS systems

Research-Induced Changes in National Policies and Strategies
• Active and passive systems to be developed within the scope of the SALIENT project will ensure that vehicles are designed more safely according to future accident scenarios. In addition, the use of 100% recyclable materials such as aluminium will reduce carbon emissions and contribute directly to the development of the automotive industry in our country. Improved production processes, lighter and multi-material designs will support our country's circular strategies.

Effect on Foreign Dependency and Current Account Deficit
• SALIENT Project will change the automotive industries' perspective by developing safer and more sustainable components. The systems to be developed in the project, where future accident scenarios will also be examined, will be used in both fossil fuel and electric vehicles, reducing the dependency on foreign countries in safety-based industrial applications in the automotive sector. In addition, with the technical knowledge
to be obtained, the rate of qualified personnel in the related countries will be increased.

Contribution in Developing/Receiving Public Goods and Services
• With the accident scenarios of the future to be examined within the scope of the SALIENT project and the crash structures developed in this focus, safer vehicles will become widespread. Thus, it will be ensured that people gain safer driving and travel experience in transportation. In addition, with the integration of these systems into domestic and national vehicles, it will be possible to suppose a competitive role in the world market.

Contribution to the Development of Professional Skills and Professional Abilities
• The partners involved in the project are among the leading organizations in Europe. In this way, it will be ensured that security-oriented technologies move to the advanced technology level. Collaborations will advance the development of technical expertise and professional competencies. Collaboration with 12 different partners from 7 different countries will contribute to the intellectual background of the project partners.

Contribution to the Development of Human Resources
• Project partners are expected to gain the ability to carry out projects in accordance with European Union standards and to provide technical knowledge. As a result of the project, it is foreseen that new employments will emerge after the use and dissemination of technology by developing green deal awareness.
