Scientific Outputs

The project analyzed how ethno-cultural and religious minorities living in Europe are accepted, excluded or discriminated by politics, education and public spheres by majority societies.

Tackling ‘grand’ or societal challenges

The concept of tolerance, acceptance, respect and recognition has been examined in the project, which questions how cultural diversity can be accommodated in liberal and secular democracies in Europe. ACCEPT PLURALISM looks at both native and immigrant minority groups; and studies people, groups and behavious which seek tolerance but should not be tolerated; which we find inappropriate but we should tolerate, and which we desire what is beyond tolerance for them and that we receive respect and recognition via comparative, theoretical and empirical analyzes. The reasons behind of what, when, and who are not tolerated and respected; why these happen, why different political actors, minority groups/individuals and certain actions are not tolerated/respected in 15 European countries have been studied.

Research-influenced changes in policy, agenda-setting

Project implementations produce key messages to decision makers to analyze politics and institutions and to be more respectful of the diversity of European societies.

The improved exercise of professional skill

Research methods and experience in international studies developed during the project particulary on "migration", made an important contribution to the professional skills and abilities.

Human capital development

A valuable contribution to the human resources of the research society on international migration studies was made through the project.
